DISPARITIES & NEEDS

Socio-Economic And Health Disparities

The U.S. Census shows significant economic disadvantages for minority groups. When it comes to Hispanics, high unemployment rates, low household incomes –which are even lower for women, and high poverty rates can be observed.

In addition, the United States is also facing an unprecedented health crisis. Particularly, Hispanics have been noticeably affected by health disparities.

The need to address these economic and health disparities becomes clearer than ever. They now represent 18% of the total U.S. population and they accounted for almost half of the total population growth in the last 10 years.

Among this group, Hispanic women are traditionally the matriarchs of extended family households and any change in habits or positive impact on Hispanic families begins with them.

As a response to this reality, The Wellness for Growth Foundation was created.
